Our toddler room cares for children aged between 24-35 months (depending on the child’s individual stage of development).
We cater for up to 12 children with the staff ratio 1:6.

A Nurturing Environment for Learning and Play
Toddlers are busy little people, full of curiosity and are interested in developing their new-found skills of mobility, manipulation and speech. The environment encourages independence and the child’s right to choose in safe, and warm surroundings. Our Emergent interest bases curriculum planning ensures that Little Stars meets the social, emotional, learning and physical needs of the Toddlers.
The activities provided within this room allows for the child’s creativity and personalities to flourish
MESSY/ CREATIVE PLAY – water, playdough and shapes, finger and sponge painting, chunky crayons and paper.
MAGINATIVE/CREATIVE PLAY – home corner to including toys kitchen, play house, dressing up, push and pull toys
PHYSICAL PLAY – outdoor play is vital to this age group and weather permitting it should be part of each day’s activity, ball games, sit and ride, climbing, swings, slides.
Learning Through Play (Focuses on activities)
As your child’s vocabulary advances and are forming simple sentences, our specialised routine is developed to provide fun centred and educational activities. At this age children have reached the stage where they enjoy interacting with their peers and participating in organised group activities. These activities implement the framework of Aistear’s curriculum. Some examples of these activities include flash cards, jigsaws and musical movement.
It is also here where your child may also begin to show an interest in toilet training. With parents as partners we will work together to devise a plan to ensure a smooth and successful transition from nappy to toilet.
